Real Loud is a Brooklyn-based presenting organization with a focus on unusual, unfamiliar and underrepresented sounds. They have showcased the late music of Giacinto Scelsi, commissioned new works by young and emerging composers for uncommon instrumentations and been featured on The Dither Extravaganza. 

Artistic & Executive Director Tristan Kasten-Krause is a Brooklyn-based musician with a drive for modern, avant-garde and emerging sounds.

Tristan has performed with Ensemble Signal, Wet Ink, Contemporaneous, Tigue and has played on the Guggenheim's Works and Process series, BRIC's Celebrate Brooklyn festival, The Ecstatic Music Festival and others. He has performed new works with Steve Reich, made noise records with members of Cloud Nothings and is the bassist for the avant-rock band Marateck

Tristan is a two-year alumnus with Bang on a Can’s Summer Festival at MASS MoCA. He received a master’s degree from the Hartt School where he studied double bass with Robert Black.  



Artistic & Managing Director Evan Runyon (acoustic & electric basses, banjo, guitar) is a performer and composer based in Brooklyn, New York. He has been privileged to collaborate with world-class composers and performers including Robert Black, Rebecca Saunders, Evan Ziporyn, Julia Wolfe, Krassimir Sterev, Carlos Cordeiro, Stefan Prins and Uli Fussenegger. Evan is also founder of low string ensemble Hollerbrag and a member of ensemble mise-en.

He has performed with Klangforum Wien, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Chris Potter and Joey DeFrancesco, appeared on the Warped Tour, Montreux Jazz Festival and SXSW stages, and appears on recordings on Albany, Asian Man and Dischord. Evan has presented masterclasses and/or lectures at the Arizona State University, the Boston Conservatory, University of Arizona, University of Illinois and Tufts University and has been a visiting instructor of double bass at the Hartt School.
